Constraint
What made it hard
Clearances on a rebuild are measured, not assumed. A bearing that is close enough goes back together fine and fails a thousand miles later, so every tolerance had to be checked against spec before anything was torqued.

Decision
What I chose, and what I rejected
I did the assembly myself and sent out only the work that needs a machine I do not have. Measuring, checking and reassembling is where the understanding is, and paying somebody else for that part would have left me with a running engine I did not know anything about.
